  • Mbarara University 0-2 Uganda Martyrs University

Uganda Martyrs University captain Obed Gui Ronald put on a captain’s performance on Sunday, scoring twice to guide the defending champions to a 2–0 victory over Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in the University Football League at the MUST Grounds.

Gui’s brace sealed the Saints’ second win of the campaign and lifted them level on seven points with Group A leaders Kampala University.

The game started at a brisk pace, with both sides pushing forward early. Gui broke the deadlock in the 21st minute, heading in Yiga Steven’s pinpoint cross from the right.

MUST came close through Okongo Moses and Lomuro Joseph, but their finishing let them down as Uganda Martyrs held a narrow lead at halftime.

After the break, the visitors took control. Jjonga Nicolas bossed the midfield while Yiga kept the hosts under pressure.

The dominance paid off in the 64th minute when Ogen Gabriel slipped Gui through, and the skipper calmly slotted home his second to seal the win.

MUST rallied late but couldn’t find a breakthrough, as the champions stood firm to secure all three points.

The University Football League continues on Monday, with Kabale University seeking their first win against Muteesa I Royal University.
