  • ISBAT 3-1 Busitema

ISBAT University finally got their University Football League campaign on track with a commanding 3–1 victory over Busitema University on Friday evening at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Both teams were chasing their first win of the season, but it was ISBAT who stepped up with a confident display to claim all three points, moving to 5th in Group C while Busitema sank to the bottom.

ISBAT started strongly, piling pressure early on. The attacking duo of Daniel Akantambira and Katende Bahirah kept Busitema’s defense busy, and in the 16th minute, Kitende’s header almost gave ISBAT the lead before Besweri cleared off the line.

Busitema’s best chance of the first half came in the 28th minute when Ssentongo’s long-range shot forced goalkeeper Ochan Michael into a shaky save.

ISBAT’s dominance finally paid off in the 41st minute when Katende Bahirah smashed a brilliant strike into the top corner after Akantambira’s fine cross, sending the home crowd wild. The hosts went into halftime deservedly 1–0 up.

They doubled their advantage just after the break. In the 59th minute, Katende grabbed his second of the game, meeting Brian Obai’s precise delivery to make it 2–0.

Busitema’s attempts to rally back through Musa Nsubuga’s long-range effort went close, but their resistance broke again in the 83rd minute when Onekgiu Allan sealed the win with a stunning solo strike from distance.

Busitema grabbed a consolation in stoppage time through Oola Gerald, who finished off a neat pass from Awasi Emmanuel, but it was too little, too late.

ISBAT ran out 3–1 winners, their first victory of the season and a performance full of confidence and promise for the games ahead.
