UFL: Kampala University, Uganda Martyrs reach knockouts

  • University of Kisubi 1-2 Uganda Martyrs University 

Kampala University and reigning champions Uganda Martyrs University have secured places in the knockout stage of this season’s University Football League after winning their final Group A matches.

Kampala University finished top of the group with 13 points from five games after beating Kampala International University 2-0 at Kadiba Stadium. 

The victory sealed a strong group campaign and confirmed KU’s place in the next round as group leaders.

Defending champions Uganda Martyrs University also ended the group stage with victory, edging University of Kisubi 2-1 in Entebbe. 

The win saw the Nkozi-based side finish second in Group A with 11 points from five matches, keeping their title defence alive.

Both teams now join St. Lawrence University, Muteesa I Royal University and Bugema University, who had already secured qualification for the knockout stage.

The competition continues on Tuesday, March 17, with Group C matches. Nkumba University host Kyambogo University in Entebbe, while YMCA Comprehensive Institute welcome ISBAT University in Buwambo.
