Kampala International University (KIU) moved up to second place after a commanding 4-0 win over University of Kisubi(UNIK) in the University Football League on Friday evening.

At the Yes Centre in Nsambya, KIU were sharp from the start, securing their second Group A victory and moving to seven points, level with Kampala University and Uganda Martyrs University at the top.

KIU struck early. Just two minutes in, Okiror Emmanuel reacted quickest to a loose ball from a corner and fired home to give the hosts the lead.

They kept pushing. In the 12th minute, Ndabirawo Gerald drove forward from midfield and forced a strong save from the UNIK goalkeeper. Two minutes later, the pressure paid off. Musasizi Isaac tapped in after good work from Ndabirawo to make it 2-0.

UNIK’s best moment came in the 22nd minute when John Nsubuga’s long-range effort troubled Matovu Francis, who spilled the ball before his defence cleared. It was a brief scare in an otherwise one-sided half.

KIU continued to create chances, with Sekandi Patrick and Ndabirawo both going close before the break. At halftime, the hosts were firmly in control.

The second half followed the same script. In the 61st minute, Ndabirawo beat his marker and set up Sekandi, who finished calmly for the third goal.

More chances followed, and KIU eventually sealed the win in the 84th minute. Ndabirawo won a penalty after being brought down in the area, then stepped up to convert and complete the 4-0 rout.

It was a disciplined and convincing performance from KIU, who climb to second on goal difference, while UNIK remain bottom with one point.

University Football League action continues on Saturday as Makerere University host Uganda Christian University at 3pm in Makerere.
