Kumi University continued their fine form in the 2025–26 University Football League with a hard-fought 1–1 draw against former champions Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono.

The visitors stunned the home crowd early when Harry Abiti smashed in a powerful strike in the 18th minute.

The goal lifted Kumi’s confidence, and they kept pressing for more, Hamis Isabirye almost doubled their lead before halftime, forcing a brilliant save from the UCU goalkeeper.

UCU, however, responded quickly. In the 26th minute, Saidi Muthir curled home a beautiful equalizer that left Kumi’s keeper rooted.

The game then swung from end to end, with both sides missing good chances to take control.

After the break, UCU pushed harder for a winner. Peter Kyomuhendo’s long-range shot rattled the crossbar, and Reagan Ssekisambu’s effort was cleared off the line, but Kumi’s defense stood firm to secure a valuable point.

The draw keeps Kumi University unbeaten with their growing strength in the Campaign and are now top of Group E with five points while UCU sit second with four points and goal difference of 4 from three games.
