  • Nkumba University 6–0 Soroti University

Nkumba University put on a footballing show on Thursday afternoon, demolishing Soroti University 6–0 at the Nkumba playground in Entebbe to reignite their University Football League campaign in style.

Everything clicked for the “Beach Boys,” whose slick passing and relentless pressure left Soroti stunned and helpless.

After several missed chances, Nkumba broke through in the 15th minute when Abbey Kavuma punished Soroti’s poor clearance from Ismail Lubega’s cross. From there, the floodgates opened.

Bwiruka Solomon doubled the lead on 31 minutes, reacting quickest after Soroti goalkeeper Mugumya fumbled Mukiibi Saad’s shot.

Four minutes later, Lubega curled in a superb free kick to make it 3–0.

As Soroti’s defense crumbled, Kavuma struck again in the 37th minute, finishing off Tasumba Buruhan’s clever cut back to send the home fans wild. Nkumba went into halftime 4–0 up and cruising.

The second half was more of the same. Lubega kept tormenting the visitors, winning a penalty moments after the restart, though Mugumya saved Kavuma’s effort.

The hosts didn’t let up, in the 76th minute, Marvin Kagimu converted from the spot to make it five.

Three minutes later, Nassar Mwebe sealed the rout with a calm finish from Joseph Wangi’s cut-back.

Even Okanya John’s late red card couldn’t spoil Nkumba’s dominance, the “Beach Boys” had already made their statement.

The emphatic win lifts Nkumba to second in Group C on six points, just one behind leaders Kyambogo University, who were held to a goalless draw by YMCA.

Action will continue on Friday November 7, when ISBAT hosts Busitema in Lugogo.
