  • Ndejje University 1-1 Islamic University in Uganda

Robert Twesigye was the hero for the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), scoring a dramatic stoppage time equalizer to earn his side a 1–1 draw against Ndejje University in the University Football League on Tuesday afternoon.

The Group E clash at the Arena of Visions in Luweero was filled with tension, missed chances, and late drama as both teams fought to keep their good start to the season alive.

Ndejje began brightly, pressing high and dominating possession. Winger Semakula Frank twice came close early on, first forcing a fine save from IUIU goalkeeper Mukasa, then seeing another close-range effort tipped wide.

IUIU found their footing midway through the first half but wasted good chances. Olupot Joel’s fine run set up Musinguzi Davis, who shot wide, while Waisana Eric skied a rebound moments later.

Ndejje kept pushing but couldn’t find a breakthrough until late in the second half.

In the 85th minute, Olupot turned from creator to finisher, calmly converting from Musinguzi’s clever pass to give the hosts a deserved lead.

But just when Ndejje thought they had sealed the win, Twesigye struck deep into stoppage time.

A precise cross from Shinkanga Emmanuel found him unmarked, and he buried the equalizer to stun the home fans.

The result leaves both teams on five points after three matches, with Ndejje leading Group E on goal difference and IUIU sitting fourth.

Action resumes on Wednesday, November 5, as Kyambogo University hosts YMCA in a Group C showdown.
