2025/26 University Football League | Monday March 30
- Kampala University 0-0 Bugema University
Kampala University are back in the semifinals of the University Football League, squeezing past Bugema University on the away goals rule after a goalless draw at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
Level at 1-1 from the first leg, KU knew a clean sheet would be enough and they delivered with a calm, disciplined performance.
They sat deep, stayed organised, and frustrated Bugema for the entire match.
Goalkeeper David Wafula had little to do, thanks to a solid backline led by Joel Mulwana, Marvin Onea, and Benjamin Nsubuga.
The defence kept Bugema’s danger men, Patrick Nuwatuha and Kenneth Bukenya, quiet on a night the hosts struggled to create real chances.
The game itself offered few moments, especially in the first half as both teams battled in midfield. Bugema pushed harder after the break, searching for the goal that would send them through, but KU held firm and never lost shape.
In the end, the tie was decided by Gideon Nsubuga’s penalty in the first leg, KU’s crucial away goal proving enough to see them through.
KU now return to the semifinals for the first time since last season, with hopes of lifting a third title. For Bugema, it’s another missed chance in their hunt for a first crown.
Focus now shifts to Masaka, where Muteesa I Royal University host defending champions Uganda Martyrs University, who carry a 2-1 lead into the second leg.
