The 2025 Mountain Dew UG 3×3 Basketball Series has officially returned, promising more excitement, bigger prizes, and wider national reach.

After a successful debut last year, Red Rhino Sports, in partnership with FUBA, confirmed that this year’s edition will feature four qualifying stops Kampala, Mukono, Gulu, and Mbarara before the grand finale on December 13, 2025.

Each stop will carry a prize pool of UGX 2 million. The winning men’s and women’s teams will take home UGX 500,000 each and automatically qualify for the finale.

At the grand showdown, champions will pocket UGX 2 million, runners-up UGX 1 million, with extra prizes for outstanding individual players.

Red Rhino Sports Director, Samuel Akwech, said the series continues to provide a vital platform for young basketball talent.

“This tournament gives players a chance to showcase their skills, entertain fans, and win prizes. We’re thrilled to bring back an event that celebrates youth basketball across the country,” he said.

FUBA General Secretary, Hudson Ssegamwenge, praised the initiative, calling it key to the sport’s development in Uganda.

“3×3 basketball is one of the fastest-growing formats globally. With more events like this, we can strengthen our local structures and even target Olympic qualification,” he noted.

Introduced as an Olympic discipline in 2020, 3×3 basketball continues to grow rapidly worldwide and in Uganda.

The country has already hosted major events like the 2024 Africa University 3×3 Championship and the FIBA 3×3 Nations League.

The 2025 series is open to players under 25 years old.

Teams of four will register for UGX 20,000, with a limit of two National Basketball League players and at least two Ugandan nationals per team.
