Uganda opened the CAF U-15 Schools’ Football Championship in style on Friday, with the boys hammering Djibouti 9–0 at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, while the girls battled from behind to beat Burundi 2–1 at FUFA Kadiba Stadium, Mengo.

The boys from St. Mary’s Kitende wasted no time making a statement. Nabir Kajjumba led the charge with a hat-trick, Lucky Wanyama added two, and there were goals for Livingston Kulata, Henry Muhoozi, Owen Mukisa and Nicholas Kawooya as Uganda dominated from start to finish.

With every attack, the home crowd grew louder, and by halftime the result felt inevitable.

Uganda later prepared to face regional rivals Kenya, looking to stay on top of the boys’ standings.

Elsewhere, South Sudan beat Rwanda 2–1, before Rwanda and Tanzania played out a goalless draw.

At Mengo, the Uganda girls represented by Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, had to work much harder.

Burundi took the lead through Chantal Nitibitanga in the 17th minute, briefly quieting the home fans.

Uganda responded quickly: Lydia Nameseruja equalised and Grace Kawino completed the comeback just two minutes later.

Uganda held firm under late pressure and now turn their attention to Rwanda with confidence.

In the other girls’ fixture, Djibouti’s tough start continued with a 0–6 loss to Tanzania.
