As far as big clashes go, the Lions Cup clash between KCB KOBs and Platinum Credit Heathens delivered. The microfinance claimed the credit at the end of the day.

KOBs led 10-03 early through two Al Hajj Manano and Ivan Otai combination unconverted tries. The Heathens were in the game all thanks to Daniel Okello Malcolm, who had a penalty to answer each of KOBs’ two early tries.

Towards the end of the first half, Innocent Gwokto finished off a lovely try for Heathens to give the yellow machine an 11-10 lead going into the half.

Daniel Okello resumed normal programming to start the second stanza, slotting through two penalties to extend the Heathens’ lead to 17-10.

Like a fine ageing wine, Micheal Wokorach joined in on the action, scoring a beautiful try that Daniel Okello ably converted.

Ssempeke Josiah and Daniel Okello exchanged penalties to push the game to 30-16 in favour of the Heathens. Justin Kimono scored KOBs’ last score of the game, and Heathens emerged 30-23 winners.

Away in Entebbe, the Rams mastered a comeback for the ages to upset the Mongers and make it to their first-ever Uganda Cup final.

The Mongers led with as big a margin as 16-03, but the Rams came back to level matters 16-16 at full-time. After extra time, the two teams were locked at 19-all. A coin toss decided the matters in the Rams’ favour.

It was the second such game to be decided by a coin toss after Heathens’ win over KOBs in the 2022 Uganda Cup semifinals was decided in similar style.
