Uganda Cup: Bright Stars, Vipers dominate individual accolades

Uganda Cup semifinalists Soltilo Bright Stars FC and eventual winners Vipers SC dominated the individual awards on the day the latter was crowned champions.

While the Venoms celebrated their third Stanbic Uganda Cup after beating Police FC in the final on Saturday, two of their players were awarded big.

Goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora and defender Ashraf Mandela were recognized amongst the best performers of the competition and took home some individual awards.

Mutombora was named the tournament’s best goalkeeper, while Mandela was recognized as the best defender.

Meanwhile, Bright Stars’ forward Emmanuel Loki was the tournament’s top scorer with five goals.

Loki’s teammate Ibrahim Kasinde was named Playmaker of the season having assisted on five occasions.

Police FC’s Missi Diego Semugera was named the tournament’s best midfielder. It was however damning as the star only started on the bench.

Vipers earlier won the Uganda Premier League title last Saturday, and the victory in Lira completed the double.
