Police FC were 2005 Uganda Premier League champions under coach Sam Timbe before they went on to win the CECAFA title in 2006, in Tanzania.
The Cops now have another shot at glory if they go on and beat Vipers SC in the Uganda Cup final at the Akii-Bua Stadium in Lira on Saturday.
“This is not the first time that Police is in a final,” coach Angelo Lonyesi in a pre-match press conference stated.

“We won the league [in 2005] and then went up to the final of the CECAFA [Club championship] in 2006, which we won.
“So, we are going to play it like a final without minding the fact that they’ve (Vipers) just won the league title.”
It will be Police’s third final in the competition, following the unsuccessful tries in 2000 and 2003 when they lost 1-0 and 3-1 to SC Villa and Express FC, respectively.
On the other hand, the Venoms are playing their third consecutive final in the Cup after beating BUL FC 8-1 in the 2020/21 season before losing to the same side 3-1 in 2022.
