2026 Uganda Cup | QF | Sunday April 5

  • Kitara FC 3-0 Express FC

Kitara FC used home comfort and familiar faces to dismantle Express FC and seal a Plascon co-sponsored Uganda Cup semifinal place with a convincing 3-0 win in Butema on Easter Sunday.

There was a moment of respect before kickoff, as both teams observed a minute of silence for the late Kikuube District LC5 Chairperson, Banura Peter Araali. But once the game began, Kitara quickly took control.

Former Express forward George Senkaaba opened the scoring in the 27th minute, finishing calmly against his old side.

Express reacted with an early change, bringing on Kenneth Kimera for Blanchar Mulamba, but it did little to shift the momentum as Kitara stayed in charge going into the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Senkaaba struck again just eight minutes after restart to double the lead and tighten Kitara’s grip on the game.

Express struggled to respond, and with five minutes left, another former Express player, Emmanuel Wasswa, added the third to put the result beyond doubt.

The win sends Kitara into the semifinals alongside URA FC and Vipers SC, with the final spot to be decided between SC Villa and Happy Boyz Kagaba in Kasanda, Mityana.

With a place in the CAF Confederation Cup at stake for the eventual winners, Kitara’s confident display watched by Vipers coach Ivan Minnaert sends a clear warning ahead of their upcoming league meeting.
