2026 Uganda Cup | Tuesday March 17 | R16
- NEC FC Vs Lugazi FC – 3 pm
- KCCA FC Vs Onduparaka FC – 7 pm
KCCA FC and Onduparaka FC have taken different but determined paths to the Round of 16 of the Plascon co-sponsored Uganda Cup, setting up a Tuesday night clash at Lugogo.
KCCA’s journey has been steady and controlled. The ten-time champions are in fine form, winning six straight games in all competitions as they chase another cup title.
They began with a comfortable 2-0 win over St George Masindi in the Round of 64 before edging Mbarara City 1-0 in the next round, thanks to Filbert Obenchan’s lone goal. It was a tight contest, but KCCA showed their ability to manage games and get results.
Onduparaka’s run has been less straightforward but equally determined. The Arua side opened with a solid 3-1 win over Kibale City.
In the Round of 32, they were pushed all the way by non-league side Football Classroom, settling for a goalless draw before squeezing through 5-4 on penalties.
History favours KCCA heading into this tie. In 13 previous meetings, they have won nine, while Onduparaka have managed just one victory, with three draws. Still, Onduparaka’s run to the 2016 final shows they can rise to the occasion.
KCCA will look to Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Saidi Mayanja to lead the attack, while Onduparaka will rely on Jimmy Pirio and Jonathan Mungufeni.
With no extra time, the stakes are clear, if the match ends level, it will go straight to penalties.
KCCA bring form and control; Onduparaka bring grit and belief.
On Monday March 16, Happy Boyz Kagaba were the first side to clinch a quarter final spot after edging Six O’Clock 5-4 on Penalties.
