Kitara FC sent a clear message in the Uganda Cup, dismantling Bunyaruguru United 6-0 to cruise into the quarterfinals on Wednesday at Royals Park in Butema.
The Hoima side needed little time to take control. Gadafi Wahab opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Jimmy Kalema and Samuel Kato Nemeyimana struck to give Kitara a comfortable 3-0 lead at halftime.
There was no let-up after the break. Benjamin Nyakoojo, George Ssenkaaba, and Living Kabon added three more goals as Kitara completed a dominant performance against the FUFA Big League side.
The 2023 champions now join KCCA FC, NEC FC, and third-division outfit Happy Boyz Kagaba in the quarterfinals.
NEC booked their place with a 2-0 win over Lugazi FC at Lugogo, thanks to goals from Gideon Odongo and Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo.
