Nigerian forward Abubakar Lawal and star-marksman Yunus Sentamu grabbed a brace apiece as Vipers SC cruised to the semi-finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The Kitende side beat FUFA Big League side Calvary FC 4-1 on an evening to remember at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday.
Contest ended by halftime
The hosts made a quick surge for a goal and it didn’t take long before the deadlock was broken through a brilliant Sentamu freekick in the ninth minute.
In the 16th minute, Vipers doubled their lead with Lawal finishing off some great inter-play between Sentamu and Congolese Garcia Mpongo.
Three minutes later, Sentamu got his second of the evening with another excellent strike on the edge of the box to the top right corner.
Calvary then pulled one back at the stroke of halftime via a brilliant Junior Andama freekick after Torach had fouled Micheal Kedi.
A few minutes after the restart, the Venoms made it four as Lawal dispatched penalty after a foul on Milton Karisa in the box.
Vipers continued their dominance and it should have been a bigger scoreline but for the second half wastefulness.
They will now await the draws, as they keep chasing a third consecutive Plascon-painted Uganda Cup final.
