URA, Entebbe UPPC and Sports Club Villa safely booked their places in the round of 32 as the 2026 Uganda Cup round of 64 kicked off with its familiar mix of drama, upsets and standout performances across the country on Friday

URA did it the hard way but with trademark control. Defender Joshua Lubwama struck early and that was enough to see off Patongo United 1-0 in Agago District.

The imposing centre-back, rose to meet Nelson Senkatuka’s corner in the sixth minute, thumping home a volley that settled the tie.

From there, the Tax Collectors stayed disciplined, absorbed pressure and protected their lead with maturity.

Entebbe UPPC also edged through, grinding out a 1-0 win over Ombachi Pride at St Charles Lwanga Playground in Koboko.

Persistent rain slowed the game, but second-half substitute Fazil Tumwine popped up with the decisive goal to send the printers into the next round.

Sports Club Villa were tested in Pallisa but leaned on experience to overcome Pallisa Hospital FC 2-1.

The record Uganda Cup winners faced stubborn resistance before David Owori broke the deadlock just after the half-hour, setting Villa on their way to a professional victory.

Elsewhere, Kitara continued their steady run with a 1-0 win over Obule Earth Quake in Soroti.

In Kampala, 10-man Lugazi showed determination to beat Kisugu United 2-1, while Maroons powered past Paidha United 2-1 at Bar Okoro Stadium in Zombo, with goals from Brian Nkuubi Ssemakula and Dickson Niwamanya.

NEC were comfortable in Kasese, dispatching Mabira Town Council 2-0 at Nyakasanga Playground through second-half goals from Allan Mugalu and Mohammed Kagawa.

Police rounded off the day with a convincing 3-0 win over Mayirwe, Umar Kasumba converting a penalty before Charles Bbaale struck twice.

Thursday evening brought more twists. Six O’Clock shocked two-time winners Mbale Heroes with a 1-0 upset, while BUL produced the most ruthless display of the round, hammering Agape 7-0. Karim Ndugwa scored four, with Seiri Arigumaho adding a hat trick.

Vipers edged Northern Gateway 1-0 in Gulu, Mbarara City fought back to beat Busia Young Stars 2-1 and KCCA claimed a 2-0 win over St George in Fort Portal through Emmanuel Anyama and Ivan Ambisibwe.

UPDF squeezed past Nsambya 2-1, while Express needed penalties to eliminate Packwach Young Stars, winning 7-6 after a 1-1 draw.

With more round of 64 matches still to come before the round of 32 draw, the Plascon Uganda co-sponsored 2026 Uganda Cup has already lived up to its reputation.
