Bushenyi Veterans and Blacks Power progressed to the Uganda Cup Round of 32 stage under unusual circumstances on Thursday afternoon.

As hosts, the Bushenyi-based side were ready to welcome FUFA Big League side Onduparaka FC to Bushenyi Main Ground, but the visitors failed to honour their fixture.

This came about after the Arua side requested FUFA postpone the match to prepare for the memorial service and game of their former player, Rashid Agau, on Saturday.

However, it all didn’t go as they hoped. The Federation denied their humble request, thus not turning up only for Bushenyi to advance.

This is the second consecutive time the 2016 runners-up failed to turn up after missing their previous campaign Round of 64 tie against Kyambura Rasters FC due to transport issues.

Blacks Power advance in similar fashion

On the other side, Soroti Thunder went to the wrong venue for their game against FUFA Big League Blacks Power.

The hosts Thunders travelled to Kidetok Primary School Playground in Serere unlike Blacks Power and match officials who reported to Soroti Stadium.

This was the Venue officially communicated by FUFA so it led to awarding a walkover to Blacks Power.

Therefore the qualified sides join Lugazi, Wakiso Giants, Vipers SC, NEC FC, Bright Stars, URA FC, Pakwach Young Stars and holders Kitara FC at the Round of 32 stage.

With Plascon Uganda at the heart of this 51st Edition, the Stanbic Uganda Cup is set to provide a platform for talent growth, ensuring young players gain recognition and secure meaningful careers.
