2026 Uganda Cup | Thursday March 19 | R16
- SC Villa 1-0 Maroons FC
Andrew Otim delivered when it mattered most, firing Sports Club Villa into the quarterfinals of the 52nd Plascon co-sponsored Uganda Cup.
Villa edged Maroons 1-0 in a tight round of 16 clash under floodlights at FUFA Kadiba Stadium on Thursday night.
For long spells, the game lacked clear chances, with both sides cautious and organized.
The breakthrough came late. With ten minutes left, Otim capitalized on a mistake by goalkeeper Simon Tamale, who failed to handle a low drive from Charles Lwanga. The striker reacted quickly and tucked the ball home for the winner.
It was a hard-fought victory for the Jogoos, who stayed patient and took their chance when it came.
Villa now join KCCA, Vipers, NEC, Kitara and regional side Happy Boyz Kagaba in the quarterfinals, with the competition growing tighter.
Round of 16 action continues Friday, March 20. Express host Red Devo at Hamz Stadium, while URA face Tapo Football Club.
