2026 Uganda Cup | R32 | Tuesday February 24

  • Kitara FC 2-0 Entebbe UPPC FC

Under the fading evening sun at Royal Park, Butema, Kitara FC once again proved their cup pedigree.

On Tuesday, 24th February 2026, the Royals defeated Entebbe UPPC 2-0 to secure a spot in the Round of 16 of the 2026 Plascon co-sponsored Uganda Cup.

Goals from George Ssenkaaba and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa, one in each half, ensured a comfortable win in a contest that was tighter than the score suggests.

Entebbe UPPC stood firm for long spells in the first half, defending bravely and threatening to frustrate the home crowd.

League top scorer Ambrose Kigozi and new signing Samuel Nsubuga both came close to giving the visitors an early lead.

But cup football often punishes missed chances. In the 32nd minute, Ssenkaaba broke the deadlock, giving Kitara the breakthrough their pressure had built toward and forcing Entebbe UPPC to chase the game.

Kitara FC celebrate one of their goals.

Early in the second half, Kitara head coach made a decisive double substitution, bringing on Hussein Ssenoga and Alex Wasswa for Gadafi Wahabu and Frank Tumwesigye. The change injected fresh energy and proved decisive.

With ten minutes remaining, Wasswa calmly finished a well worked move to seal a 2-0 victory, sending the Butema faithful into celebration. Kitara managed the closing minutes professionally to secure progression.

They now join Kampala Capital City Authority FC in the Round of 16, after KCCA edged Mbarara City 1-0 at Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, courtesy of a superb diving header from captain Filbert Obenchan.
