  • Vipers 3-0 Blacks Power

Vipers SC qualified for the Uganda Cup quarterfinals with a 3-0 victory over FUFA Big League side Blacks Power at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Goals from Yunus Sentamu, Pedro Sukuya, and Livingstone Mulondo sealed the win as the Venoms continued their pursuit of a domestic double.

Blacks Power’s troubles began even before kickoff, as they arrived late to the venue due to traffic congestion. Their struggles carried onto the pitch, with Vipers taking control from the start.

The breakthrough came in the 30th minute when Sentamu expertly volleyed home from a Sukuya assist to put the hosts ahead.

In the second half, Sentamu turned provider, setting up Sukuya to double the lead on the hour mark.

Just two minutes later, Mulondo sealed the victory with a well-placed header from Sukuya’s corner, putting the game beyond reach.

With this win, Vipers advanced to the quarterfinals, joining Kitara, Police, SC Villa, KCCA, BUL, Kaaro Karungi, and Kataka.

Currently leading the Uganda Premier League by five points, the Venoms are chasing their fourth Uganda Cup title, having previously lifted the trophy in 2016, 2020, and 2023.

The winner of the competition represents Uganda at the CAF Confederations Cup starting in the Preliminary round.

The 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, co-sponsored by Plascon Uganda, is not just a fight for silverware but also serves as a platform for young players to showcase their skills.
