Defending Champions Vipers SC hit the second successive final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after registering a comfortable 4-0 victory against Mbarara City at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.
The well deserved victory followed a 2-1 win in the first leg that was played at Kakyeka Stadium, taking the aggregate tally to 6-1.
Goals from; Halid Lwaliwa, Milton Karisa, Yunus Sentamu and Bobosi Byaruhanga were enough to guide Vipers into the final game of the coveted tournament.
Vipers attacker Najib Yiga was the brightest spark in a relatively dull first half, giving Mbarara’s defenders trouble but his brilliance didn’t materialize into a goal.
As the first half came to an end, Cesar Lobi Manzoki was stretchered off the pitch after a head collision.
After the interval, the Kitende side was more clinical and a Ronald Otti‘s own goal put them ahead after nodding Bobosi Byaruhanga’s well taken corner.
Ten minutes later, Milton Karisa doubled the lead with an exciting finish before marksman Sentamu made it three to drown Mbarara further in sorrow.
In added time, Byaruhanga put icing on the cake to conclude the scoring party with a great finish after being set up by Sentamu.
The Venoms will wait on the winner between BUL and Booma to set up a complete final menu.
The oil manufacturers, Bul FC will seek to protect a 5-1 lead from the first leg over the Masindi side to set up a repeat of last year’s final.
