Uganda’s young table tennis stars are chasing a strong finish at the 2025 ITTF Festival of Table Tennis in Lagos, Nigeria.
With six medals already secured three golds, one silver, and two bronzes and several players still in the hunt, the team heads into the final day full of confidence.
Uganda started brightly, winning both boys’ and girls’ titles at the Africa Hopes Week and Challenge. The momentum carried into the African Youth Championships, where they added four more medals.
Now focus shifts to the last leg, the inaugural ITTF Africa Youth Cup where Ugandan players have reached the quarterfinals.
Joseph Sebatindira faces Algeria’s Goudjil Aylan, while Shariff Nsereko looks to keep his run going against Chad’s Putola Tidiane, having earlier avenged his loss to Algeria’s Zouitene Bilel.
There’s also an all-Ugandan quarterfinal between Jemimah Nakawala and Patience Anyango, set for 11:30 AM (EAT), while Parvin Judith Nangonzi takes on Nigerian favorite Ojo Favour in the U19 girls’ singles.
The team, coached by Alvin Katumba and Tendo Balyewunya, features seven young talents including Patra Nasirumbi and Ibrahim Mutesasira, all flying Uganda’s flag with pride.
