Uganda’s U16 boys’ basketball team, the Junior Silverbacks fought hard but lost 57-50 to Cameroon in their AfroBasket clash at Petit Stade on Tuesday.
Cameroon led 18-15 after the first quarter and pulled ahead 35-22 by halftime. They maintained control in the third, taking a 51-38 lead into the final period.
Uganda staged a late comeback, holding Cameroon to just six points in the fourth quarter and cutting the gap to seven, but it wasn’t enough.
Nolan Ngangmeni led Cameroon with 13 points, while Luther Maboula and Felix Deumi added 11 and 10.
Joshua Bwakanda and Laurent Rwuhiriro scored 11 each for Uganda, with Shammah Kwizera contributing 10.
Uganda now shifts focus to their next game as the AfroBasket U16 campaign continues in Kigali.
