The Uganda National Golf Team is putting final touches on preparations for the 2025 Africa Region IV Golf Championship, set for November 27–29 in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
The team departs on Monday, November 24, giving them time to settle in before official practice rounds on November 25 and 26.
The championship, hosted at the Golf du Rova Luxury Hotel, will feature top amateur golfers from Madagascar, Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Uganda’s preparations have been in full gear since November 7, with players sharpening their technical skills, fitness, and mental approach.
Their final camp at Lugazi Hills and Country Club, held from November 18 to 22, centered on course management and consistency.
To test their readiness, the squad competed at the Thika Greens Tournament in Kenya, a trip that delivered encouraging results:

• Akena Joseph Reagan finished 2nd,
• Godfrey Kambale placed 21st,
• Joseph Kasozi came 29th.
Head coach Flavia Namakula praised the team’s commitment.
“The team is well-prepared, both physically and mentally. The outing in Kenya helped us gauge our level, and the boys responded well. We’ve polished the technical details at Lugazi and are ready to represent the country with pride.”
Akena Joseph, one of the team’s top performers, said the group is heading to Madagascar with full belief.
“We’ve trained hard for nearly two weeks. We’re ready, not just to participate but to win. We don’t know what the weather will be like, but we Ugandans are all-weather. We’re ready for this and ready to win.”
