Uganda Martyrs FC extended their winning run in the FUFA Women Super League to two games after defeating Asubo Ladies 2-1 in a thrilling encounter in Kawanda, on Sunday.
A scoreless first half gave way to a dominant display by Uganda Martyrs in the second period.
Sharon Kanyiginya opened the scoring in the 46th minute with a powerful header, followed by a well-placed strike from Immaculate Nakanjako just three minutes later, assisted by Latifah Nakasi.
Asubo Threatens Late Comeback
Kamiyat Naigaga ignited a glimmer of hope for Asubo Ladies in the 79th minute, weaving past defenders and firing a shot past the goalkeeper.
However, Uganda Martyrs held firm to secure a crucial victory and climb within one point of third-placed She Maroons.
This defeat extends Asubo’s losing streak and cements their position at the bottom of the table with only 10 points. They now face a tough challenge against defending champions Kampala Queens in their next fixture.
Uganda Martyrs will look to maintain their momentum when they travel to face in-form Wakiso Hill on Wednesday, April 10th.
