Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Lady Doves FC in a thrilling FUFA Women’s Super League encounter at Lubaga on Saturday.
This win marks a return to form for the “Kiddawalime” after suffering two back-to-back defeats.
Nakacwa and Nakasi Lead The Charge
The home side, seeking to bounce back from recent defeats, started strong with midfielder Kevin Nakacwa breaking the deadlock before halftime with a well-placed strike off her weaker left foot.
Captain Latifah Nakasi doubled the lead in the second half with a brilliant finish, putting Uganda Martyrs in a seemingly comfortable position.
However, Lady Doves refused to go down without a fight. Norah Alupo pulled one back for the visitors, setting up a tense finale.
Uganda Martyrs’ newly signed defender Gloria Namugerwa marshaled a resolute defense to deny Lady Doves the equalizer and secure a crucial three points.
This victory propels Uganda Martyrs to fourth place in the standings with 15 points, just one point behind She Maroons in third. Lady Doves remain in sixth with 12 points, level with Rines SS WFC and only two points above the relegation zone.
It was also the fifth league win in six games for Uganda Martyrs against Lady Doves. And they remain undefeated against the Believers.
