Uganda Martyrs High School, Lubaga defeated La Mennais 7-1 in the final to win the 2023 La Mennais title in girls football.
Brenda Munyana scored four goals as Sumaya Nalumu netted a brace and Latifah Nakasi added one to win the title comfortably.
Uganda Martyrs won the title unbeaten and scored 22 goals, the most scored by team in the entire tournament.
Head coach Rogers Nkugwa was impressed by the girls’ performance.
“We are used to winning this trophy but every year you face tough challenges, but I am impressed with the performance of my girls and happy to go back with the title,” he said.
Nkugwa also described the tournament as a boost ahead of the new FUFA Women Super League.
“Most of the school team players are key and part of the club, and the tournament helped us to build their winning mentality and levels of fitness. I believe they’ll showcase their best this coming season,” he concluded.
