Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women Football Club are set to appoint Issa Ssempijja as their new head coach. Ssempijja will be joining the club from Shuuku Vocational SS, a school he led to the round of 16 in this year’s National Championships.

Ssempijja will be assisted by Emmanuel Emmy Kisakye, who is also a coach of Kampala Junior team (KJT) in the Futsal Super League.

The duo will take over from Rogers Nkugwa, who resigned as head coach in November after just five league games in charge this season.

Ssempijja is a CAF C tactician with over 15 years of experience in women’s football. He has previously coached NTC Kabale, Western Utd WFC, and Maryhill High School. He also guided Western Utd WFC to the quarter finals of the FUFA Women’s Cup in 2017.

Ssempijja is a former referee and referee’s assessor. He is an Excom Member Uganda Women Football Association, a SIG Women Regional Delegate and Football Development Officer for the Western Region.

Ssempijja and Kisakye are expected to start their new journey with Uganda Martyrs with a training session on Sunday before playing their first league game next weekend at home.
