Uganda Martyrs University and Bugema University have become the latest teams to advance to the quarterfinals of the Pepsi University Football League.
Martyrs put on a dominant display, thrashing University of Kisubi (Unik) 5-0 in Nkozi. Meanwhile, Bugema secured a crucial away victory, defeating Kabale University 1-0.
Uganda Martyrs University finished atop Group A with an impressive 14 points, while Bugema also progressed to the knockout stage as one of the two best runners-up thanks to their superior goal difference.
Sulaiman Ssentongo‘s 72nd-minute strike proved decisive for Bugema in their triumph over Kabale.
On the other hand, Akbar Ssentongo netted a brace for Uganda Martyrs, with Joseph Kayondo, Richard Rwayanga, and Peter Calvin Emayo adding the remaining goals.
The duo join Kampala University, Makerere University, Uganda Christian University, and MUBS as the teams that have secured their spots in the knockout stage of the competition.
