Owing to their quarter-final elimination in the Olympics repechage in Monaco, the Uganda rugby men’s sevens team is now shifting focus to the Africa Sevens in Mauritius.
The 2024 Mauritius Sevens come with a fresh spice, that will see the games being played across two weekends, i.e. from 29 to 30 June, and again from 6 to 7 July, at the Labourdonnais stadium in Port-Louis for two rounds of rugby sevens.
After a largely underwhelming 2023-2024 campaign, the Uganda men’s team will look for solace in the continental showpiece, where they emerged third in Zimbabwe last year.

A total of twelve men’s teams are expected in Mauritius for both rounds, and the finishing positions for the first round will determine the ranking and pool scheduling for the subsequent round.

For the first round, Uganda was drawn in Pool B alongside Burkina Faso, Tunisia, and Cote d’Ivoire. The top two teams (exclusive of Kenya Shujaa) will be participating in the 2025 HSBC SVNS Challenger Series. Kenya won promotion to the HSBC SVNS core roster for 2025 through the 2024 Challenger Series.
