Uganda’s Motorcross team is set to represent the country at the Africa Nations Motorcross Championship in Morocco. The team was officially flagged off at the National Council of Sports premises in Lugogo on October 23, 2024, and will compete in the championship from October 25-28.
The National Council of Sports was represented by Assistant General Secretary Joseph Oluga, who praised the team for their commitment and patriotism. He emphasized the government’s support for the Federation of Motorsport Uganda (FMU) and its efforts to promote motorcross in the country.
“It is a privilege to flag off this team,” Oluga stated. “The government fully supports FMU, and we recognize their dedication to making motorcross a priority sport. We understand the challenges of participating in this expensive sport, but we will do our best to provide necessary support.”
Uganda is expected to face stiff competition from South Africa, Morocco, Kenya, and Namibia at the championship. The team, led by former captain Arthur Blick Junior, consists of 32 riders.
