Uganda Premier League | Tuesday, January 6, 2026 | MD 12
- Vipers vs Mbarara City – St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende 8pm
- Buhimba vs Maroons – Royal Park, Butema 4pm
- Police vs KCCA – Police Arena, Kamwokya 4pm
After a short break for the Uganda Cranes’ AFCON campaign, the Uganda Premier League is back and it returns with a statement fixture.
Leaders KCCA travel to face fourth-placed Police in a clash that immediately refocuses attention on the title race.
The league had paused for three weeks as Uganda featured at AFCON 2025 in Morocco. It ended in disappointment, with the Cranes finishing bottom of Group C behind Tanzania, Tunisia and Nigeria.
With that chapter closed, domestic football takes centre stage again as matchday 12 kicks off across the country on Tuesday.
KCCA resume action at the top of the table with 26 points from 11 games. Their lead is narrow, two points clear of defending champions Vipers, who have a game in hand, and three ahead of SC Villa.
Police, Kitara and Entebbe UPPC are also close enough to keep the pressure high, leaving little margin for mistakes.
Tuesday’s headline fixture at the Police Arena in Kamwokya pits first against fourth. KCCA’s 26 points against Police’s 21 make it a five-point gap, small enough to give the contest real edge and meaning.
KCCA return encouraged by improved fitness across the squad. Striker Derrick Nsibambi and midfielder Rogers Mugisha are back, while Joel Sserunjogi has recovered from illness.
Emmanuel Anyama returns from suspension, and Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Shafic Kwikiriza and Charles Lukwago are available again after national duty.

There are still absentees, though, with Peter Magambo, Etienne Katenga and Joao Gabriel sidelined long-term.
“We’re playing Police, a tough fixture, but the boys are in good condition,” co-coach Jackson Magera said.
“They are well prepared. We want to be consistent because consistency keeps you at the top.”
He also acknowledged the challenge awaiting them in Kamwokya. “It’s never easy to create chances there, but we’ll give everything to get through the game.”
Police have been one of the season’s bright spots. Under Matia Lule, they sit fourth after a strong first half of the campaign, though injuries have slowed their momentum. Umar Kasumba, Daniel Otto, Samuel Kayongo, Charles Bbaale and Mario Sizwe are all set to miss the match.

Elsewhere, matchday 12 offers plenty to watch. Vipers host Mbarara City at Kitende, while Express and SC Villa renew their fierce rivalry at Nakivubo later in the week, ensuring the league’s return is anything but quiet.
