Uganda’s national cross country team is set for a major test at the World Cross Country Championships on January 10 in Tallahassee, Florida, carrying the hopes of a nation onto the global stage.
The team travels with confidence and purpose, blending experience with fresh talent. Leading the charge is Jacob Kiplimo, the team captain and established star, whose presence sets the tone as Uganda takes on the world’s best distance-running nations.
The senior women’s squad brings together strength and consistency, with Sarah Chelangat and Rebecca Chelangat joined by Kereen Chemusto, Martha Chemutai, Joy Cheptoyek and Rispa Cherop.

Their selection reflects the steady growth and competitiveness of Ugandan women in long-distance running.
On the men’s side, Kiplimo is backed by Dolphine Chelimo, Dan Kibet, Emmanuel Kibet, Keneth Kiprop and Deogracius Musobo, a group that offers depth and resilience across the demanding course.
Uganda’s promise for the future is clear in the under-20 teams. Peace Chebet, Felister Chekwemoi, Nancy Chepkwurui, Charity Cherop and Bentalin Yeko will represent the U20 women, while Solomon Andiema, Daniel Kiprotich Chelogoi, Abraham Cherotich, Dan Kipyeko and Jeremiah Kwemoi line up for the U20 men, all eager to prove themselves at the highest level.

The mixed relay team of Brenda Chekwemoi, Sylvia Chelangat, Silas Chemutai and Daniel Comboni completes the squad, underlining Uganda’s growing depth across categories.
