The Uganda rugby cranes and their lady counterparts are in Tunisia for a 2-game tour aimed at building the bonds between the two unions and putting some mileage in the legs of the 15-A-Side national teams.
The Rugby Cranes were 20-14 winners in the afternoon, while the lady cranes will rue their missed chances in a 27-17 loss.
The ladies registered three tries via Nanyonjo Angella, Emily Lekuru and Juliet Nandawula and a conversion from Tina Akello.
Although the ladies did not win, this was a much-improved performance from the Cranes who had suffered a humiliating 87-03 loss in their last competitive game, against noisy neighbours, Kenya.
The Rugby cranes, on the other hand, were winners thanks to a first-half penalty try, a second-half try through substitute Joseph Aredo, a conversion and penalty from skipper Ivan magomu and a second penalty from Victoria Cup hero Liam “Sekitoleko” Walker.
The teams will be back at each other’s throats on Monday, 27th November 2023, for the second round of games.
The last time Uganda played Tunisia was in the 2018 Gold Cup at Kyadondo rugby grounds, with Philip Wokorach registering 37 points as an individual.
