Uganda’s Crested Cranes have moved up one place in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, now sitting 29th in Africa and 147th in the world.
The rankings, released Thursday, follow a busy spell in women’s football led by Nigeria’s record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) win in Morocco.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons remain Africa’s best and 36th worldwide, despite going unbeaten through six games and beating South Africa in the semi-finals before defeating Morocco in the final.
South Africa hold second place in Africa at 54th globally. Morocco, the WAFCON hosts and runners-up, slipped four spots to 64th.
Zambia, Cameroon, and Ghana complete Africa’s top six, followed by Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Algeria, and Senegal.
Globally, Spain reclaimed the number one spot despite losing the UEFA Women’s Euro, pushing the United States to second.
Sweden are third, with England, Germany, France, Brazil, Japan, Canada, and North Korea making up the rest of the top 10.
