2025 U16 AfroBasket

  • Uganda 66-55 Tunisia

Uganda’s Junior Silverbacks ended their 2025 FIBA U16 AfroBasket run on a high, beating Tunisia 66-55 to secure fifth place at the Petit Stade in Kigali.

Still reeling from Friday’s narrow 53-50 quarterfinal loss to Cameroon, the boys bounced back with energy and determination.

Shyaka Evans shone brightest with 24 points and five rebounds, while Shane added 16 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in a commanding all-around performance.

Though they missed out on the semifinals, the Junior Silverbacks leave Kigali with pride, having shown grit and promise.

Their top-five finish underscores Uganda’s growing presence in African basketball having engaged in both the senior women and men AfroBasket and signals a bright future with some youngster like Tejan Joel Rugette for the national team pipeline.
