Uganda have dropped one place to 83rd in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings released on Friday, falling from 82nd in September.
The Cranes’ slide follows a mixed October international window, where Paul Put’s side beat Botswana 1–0 in Francistown before suffering a late 2–1 loss to Algeria, a result that ended their 2026 World Cup qualification hopes.
Curacao leapfrogged Uganda into 82nd, while East African rivals Tanzania (107th) and Kenya (109th) also experienced minor changes.
Rwanda slipped to 131st, Burundi sit 145th, and South Sudan remain 167th.
Across Africa, Morocco remain the continent’s top side, ranking 12th globally.
Senegal (18th), Egypt (32nd), Algeria (35th), Nigeria (41st), Ivory Coast (42nd), Tunisia (43rd), Mali (53rd), Cameroon (54th), and South Africa (59th) complete Africa’s top ten.
Globally, Spain strengthened their hold on the No. 1 spot after back-to-back wins, while reigning world champions Argentina climbed to second, overtaking France, who dropped to third.
England, Portugal, the Netherlands, Brazil, Belgium, Italy, and Germany round out the top ten with Germany returning after a brief absence.
Elsewhere, Niger, Lesotho, and the Faroe Islands were the biggest climbers, each rising nine places after strong qualifying performances. Kosovo also reached a historic high of 84th.
The next FIFA rankings update will be released in December after the final round of 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
