Uganda Cricket Association has made another big step in developing the game locally with the completion of a Level Two coaching course in Jinja, aimed at building the country’s coaching strength.
Twelve high-performance coaches graduated from the intensive program, which focused on sharpening their technical and leadership skills to help develop players and manage teams — from youth and emerging squads to the national side.
The course covered key areas such as spin and swing bowling, advanced fielding, shot execution, and program management, while promoting structured coaching across all competition levels.
“This is a significant milestone in the growth of Ugandan cricket,” said Richard Okia, Head of High Performance at Uganda Cricket.
“With more qualified coaches, we’re better equipped to pass on essential skills to players in our development and high-performance programs. We’re already planning another Level Two course early next year.”
The training was facilitated by Cricket Without Boundaries (CWB) tutors Lee Booth and Sarah Evans, alongside Uganda Cricket’s Development Manager Davis Turinawe.
Participants received both technical knowledge and practical experience throughout the course.
Selection focused on hub representatives and coaches committed to long-term development, ensuring the knowledge gained will be shared widely through passionate mentors.
With the Jinja course concluded, Uganda now boasts 24 Level Two–certified coaches this year, a strong boost to the country’s capacity to nurture homegrown cricket talent.
