Uganda Swimming team flagged off for Africa Aquatics Zone III Championships

Team Uganda has officially been flagged off for the 10th Africa Aquatics Zone III Swimming Championships, set for October 16–19 in Nairobi, Kenya. 

The colorful ceremony at Speke Resort Munyonyo was filled with excitement and determination as the national team prepared to defend its continental title.

The flag-off marked the end of Uganda’s final training camp at the lakeside resort, where swimmers fine-tuned their speed, endurance, and teamwork ahead of the regional showdown. 

The contingent of 85 athletes, a mix of promising youngsters and experienced Masters swimmers share one goal, to keep Uganda’s flag flying high in Nairobi.

Annie Sarah Nankya, Senior Sports Officer at the National Council of Sports (NCS), officially flagged off the team, urging the athletes to compete with discipline, unity, and pride. 

She commended the Uganda Swimming Federation for nurturing talent and sustaining the country’s dominance in regional competitions.

The championships, to be held at Nairobi’s Kasarani Aquatic Stadium, will feature swimmers from nine countries;Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Burundi, Eritrea, Nigeria and defending champions Uganda.

Uganda’s eyes are now set on a fourth straight Zone III crown, with heads set to Nairobi.
