Uganda thumps Uruguay 26-12 in 7s Challenger Series opener

Uganda Rugby Cranes increased their chances of advancing to the next stage from a tough Pool C with a win today evening in the ongoing men’s World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series 2022.

Towering duo in Vice-captain Ian Munyani and Philip Wokorach scored the tries as Uganda beat Uruguay, 26-12 to get their campaign off to a strong start.

Wokorach bagged a hat trick in a match that saw wanting discipline from both sides as a number of penalties were awarded with the South American side picking up a yellow card.

Action for the Pearl of Africa side returns tomorrow at 12:39 against Germany before entertaining Lithuania in the last group game.

Germany beat Lithuania, 21-10, in their first match which implies that Uganda only needs a win from the two games to progress.
