Uganda has made its first appearance at the ISF World School Golf Championship, teeing off at the prestigious Royal Golf Dar Es Salam course in Rabat, Morocco.
The country is represented by two young talents: Racheal Laura Natukunda from Nyakasura School and Damian Asiimwe of St Julian High School Gayaza. They are coached by Isaiah Mwesige, founder of the AFRIYEA Golf Academy in Fort Portal.
Also part of the team are Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) president Justus Mugisha and executive committee member Richard Muhumuza. The group traveled via Doha ahead of the tournament.
“We traveled well and are set for the official practice round. The players are ready to give their best,” said Coach Mwesige after arriving in Rabat.
Running from July 15 to 20, the championship is the first of its kind organized by the International School Sport Federation (ISF), attracting over 130 young golfers in U-18 and U-15 boys’ and girls’ categories.
The first day included a practice round, technical meetings, ISF Academy sessions, and an opening ceremony. Competition begins Wednesday, with rounds continuing through the weekend. Friday will feature a cultural exchange and Nations’ Night celebration.
Held at one of Africa’s top golf courses, the event is a major step forward for school golf globally and for Uganda.
