Uganda’s U17 boys rugby team were crowned champions of the 2025 Safari 7s Age Grade Tournament after edging Rift Valley 14-12 in a thrilling final on Friday at Nyayo stadium .

Led by the passionate and experienced Coach Sky, a familiar name in youth rugby circles, the young Ugandans showed determination, teamwork and skill, sailing throughout the two-day competition unbeaten.

After advancing from Pool C, which featured Western and Coast, Uganda crushed Nyanza 19-0 in the quarterfinals and beat Nairobi 12-5 in the semifinals to reach the title decider.

The final was fiercely contested, with both sides exchanging tries in a tense battle. But Uganda held their nerve to claim a hard-fought 14-12 victory, sparking joy among the traveling team and supporters.

The Age Grade tournament opened the 2025 Safari 7s festival at Ngong Racecourse, drawing regional teams from Nairobi, Rift Valley, Nyanza, Coast, Eastern, Western, Central and International Schools, with Uganda competing as the guest side.

Beyond the trophy, the win gives Uganda a timely boost ahead of the African Youth Games in Angola this December, where the young Cranes will once again fly the national flag with pride.
