The fifth Live Free Race rolls into Nairobi on Sunday, October 5, bringing more riders, bigger prizes, and a stronger call for a cleaner planet.
More than 3,500 cyclists from over 20 countries will converge on Nyayo Stadium for East Africa’s premier biking festival, powered by the Grand Nairobi Bike Race.
Title sponsor Jubilee Insurance has committed KES 20 million this year, raising its total support since 2022 to more than KES 100 million.
What began in 2021 as a local meet has grown into a regional celebration of sport, wellness, and environmental action.
This year’s theme centers on freedom, promoting children’s physical mobility and protecting the environment.
“True freedom is not just about cycling,” said Dorcus Kuhimbisa, the insurer’s Chief Operations Officer. “It’s about creating healthier, more sustainable lives for generations to come.”
Cyclists will compete in five categories, from the 75-kilometre main race to a family-friendly 1-kilometre kiddie ride, with winners sharing UGX 108.4 million in cash and prizes.
Ugandan riders, strong performers since 2023, are expected to challenge again for podium spots.
Registration closes Monday, September 29, on the official event website as the race inspires East Africans to ride for fitness, fun, and a greener future.
