Uganda’s gymnastics community is celebrating a wave of good news following key announcements from the Uganda Olympic Committee/Commonwealth Games Uganda (UOC/CGU) Council Meeting held on October 11, 2025.

The meeting marked a major step forward for the Uganda Gymnastics Federation (UGF) as it gears up for an exciting 2026.

The highlight came with confirmation that Artistic Gymnastics will feature at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, giving Ugandan gymnasts a rare chance to compete on one of the world’s biggest stages.

At the same time, preparations are in motion for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, where the country’s young talents will test themselves against the best in the world.

UGF also reaffirmed its commitment to clean sport, pledging full compliance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code. Athlete welfare and education remain at the heart of the federation’s mission to uphold integrity and excellence.

To boost grassroots growth, UGF will submit its national activity calendar to the Talent Identification Commission, aligning local programs with national strategy to help discover and develop future stars.

Beyond the gym, the federation plans to work with the Sustainability Commission on climate action programs, ensuring the sport plays its part in building a greener future.

Looking ahead, UGF is eager to take part in upcoming UOC initiatives, including the Sports Bazaar and National Olympic Games, which will showcase gymnastics and open doors for new partnerships and support.

Uganda’s gymnastics journey is clearly gaining momentum and 2026 could be its biggest leap yet.
