International University of East Africa (IUEA) search for their first win in the University Football League continued as they settled for a goalless draw with Nkumba University on Tuesday at Lukuli, Makindye.

The result saw IUEA’s chances of qualifying for the knockout stage remain in doubt. Earlier they had lost to St Lawrence 3-1 and settled to 1all draw with Gulu University.

Despite their poor start coach Hassan Wasswa is impressed with how far the team has gone.

“We are a team that is in transition and I believe we are doing well. My plan was to build a team that would be competitive in two or three years. I believe we have a good team that will be a finished article with time. When you look at today’s game the players did their part but we’re unlucky not to pick three points,” noted Wasswa.

However, Nkumba University moved to four points in Group E.

Their coach Sulaiman Bbosa believes if they were clinical enough maybe they would have won.

“I believe we were a better side, especially in the second half. In the first half we first studied how our opponents played that’s why we came up with a different approach. We shall try to improve on some areas in the next games,” he stated.

The league will resume on Wednesday as debutantes Isbat hosts Kampala University at Buwambo.
