Uganda Premier League

  • URA FC 3-2 UPDF FC

Captain Moses Aliro led by example with a brace that played a vital role in URA FC’s first win of the season after five matches.

In the game played at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Wednesday the 29th, Aliro opened the score sheet for URA FC in the 24th minute, but Samson Kigozi equalized two minutes later.

At the knock of the halftime break, George Masembe restored the lead for URA FC to go into the break leading 2-1.

From the restart, URA FC got two chances to extend the lead, but Nelson Ssenkatuka and Aliro appeared shy in those moments, giving Police FC momentum to plot for an equalizer.

Twelve minutes into the second half, Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte leveled the game again from a spot kick to make it 2-2.

UPDF FC kept on growing in the game, beautifying their play, but with substitutes including John Innocent Kisolo, Laban Tibita, and Living Kabon helping, URA FC regained driving force going forward.

In the 76th minute, Aliro put URA FC in the lead for the third time, striking the penalty straight at the goalkeeper, who dove to the left.

The win ended a four-draw streak for URA FC, reaching 7 points in 5th position, while it stranded UPDF FC with a third defeat of the season in four games, sitting in 12th position.

URA FC will return to action with a short trip to Luzira Prisons, where they will take on Maroons FC on Wednesday, November 5, a day before UPDF FC hosts Police FC at Bombo Barracks.

Meanwhile, the league will continue tomorrow, Thursday, October 30th, with two games as BUL FC hosts Express FC at Njeru Technical Center, while Kitara FC hosts Lugazi FC in Hoima.
