2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 15 | Friday January 30

  • KCCA FC 0-1 Entebbe UPPC FC
  • Vipers SC 4-0 Buhimba United Saints
  • UPDF FC 0-1 Bul FC

Ambrose Kigozi once again proved the difference, scoring the only goal as Abdallah Mubiru earned bragging rights over former club KCCA FC with Entebbe UPPC’s hard fought 1–0 win on Friday evening at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

The result closed the first round of the 2025/26 season and highlighted Mubiru’s growing impact at the Printers.

Mubiru, who coached KCCA in two separate spells between 2023 and 2025, returned to familiar ground with a clear plan, guiding UPPC to a disciplined and patient display in a contest that swung both ways.

KCCA started brighter and nearly struck early after a scramble in the UPPC box, but the visitors cleared their lines.

A shaky back pass soon after almost gifted Shafik Nana an opener, only for goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa to react quickly.

UPPC’s first real chance came midway through the half when Muhammad Kyeyune forced a save from Charles Lukwago with a long-range effort.

The hosts continued to push, but accuracy let them down. Ivan Ahimbisibwe fired over after neat build-up play, while a mix up with Nana later cost KCCA a clearer opportunity.

The breakthrough arrived on the stroke of halftime and it had Kigozi’s stamp.

Isa Mubiru’s long ball split the defence, Kigozi raced through and calmly slid past the advancing Lukwago to silence the home crowd.

KCCA returned from the break with urgency. Sammy Ssebaduka’s header was kept out by Omedwa, and Ahimbisibwe miscued from close range moments later.

UPPC remained a threat on the counter, with Kyeyune rounding Lukwago but finding no teammate to finish.

Late pressure from the hosts yielded little. Ahmed Amayo produced a crucial block before Saidi Mayanja blasted the rebound wide, and UPPC’s defence held firm through the closing minutes to seal a narrow but significant victory.

Elsewhere, Vipers thrashed Buhimba United Saints 4–0 in Kitende, while BUL FC edged UPDF FC 1–0 in Bombo.
