2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 19 | Saturday March 7,
- Maroons FC 1-0 Buhimba United Saints FC
Maroons FC earned revenge for their first leg defeat with a hard fought 1-0 win over Buhimba United Saints FC on Saturday evening in Luzira, thanks to an early strike from Ivan Asaba.
Asaba scored the game’s only goal in the fifth minute, calmly finishing a chance created by Marvin Oshaba to give the hosts the perfect start.
Maroons looked comfortable after taking the lead and controlled much of the early play. Buhimba slowly settled into the match and won their first corner in the 27th minute, but clear chances remained scarce.
The visitors’ frustration began to show when Eric Muber was booked in the 34th minute. Maroons maintained their slim advantage heading into the break.
Buhimba made three changes at the start of the second half, bringing on Musa Ssali, Davis Ssali and Derrick Ochen in a bid to find an equaliser.
Maroons also refreshed their side in the 52nd minute, introducing Abel Eturude and Jamal Ssemwogerere. Despite the changes, the match struggled to open up, with both teams cancelling each other out in a largely dull second half.
Buhimba pushed forward late on but Maroons held firm to protect their lead. Ochen and Eric Washington Niwamanya were both booked as the visitors’ frustration grew.
Asaba, whose early strike proved decisive, was named man of the match.
The win lifts Maroons to ninth place with 22 points, while Buhimba remain 14th with 15 points.
Maroons next visit Calvary FC at Midigo Primary School playgrounds on Tuesday, March 10. Buhimba United Saints will host BUL FC at Royal Park in Butema the same day.
